I designed and set this book which contains decades of meticulous research into one of the prominent architects active in 18th century Yorkshire. The second photo shows the book launch which I sadly could not attend.
I am so pleased to take part again in this superb event, see you in a couple of weeks!
The Kitschies are the prize for progressive, intelligent and entertaining novels that contain elements of the speculative or fantastic. Founded in 2008, The Kitschies are a juried prize, awarded annually in a number of categories, including novel, debut novel and cover art. I was immensely happy to be nominated, shortlisted (you can see the shortlisted covers below) and then actually win this year’s cover art Inky Tentacle – ‘for the humanity and craft of her cover’!
I am absolutely delighted to be included in this retrospective exhibition with my artwork for two of the covers I created for Arachne Press. The exhibition is on now until 15th February right in the centre of Greenwich at the Stephen Lawrence Gallery (10 Stockwell Street London SE10 9BD) opening times Tue-Fri 11am-5pm, Sat 11am-4pm.
I created these cheeky chaps who are totally obsessed with apples some time ago. But last autumn and this winter they spread their tiny wings again and grabbed some exhibition space first the the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton and then as part of the Elmbridge Moving Art exhibition in Esher.
The time leading to Christmas is very busy with fairs. I took part in the Illustrators’ Fair, Keep it Local and Solocraft events (also selling in their fantastic shop at Elephant and Castle).
This design caters for lovers of both tabby and calico cats. Or cat lovers in general. Now on my Etsy.
I will be back at the Illustrators’ Fair in a month, meanwhile here is my version of the invite. Hopefully see you there!
It has been truly an absolute pleasure to meet Steve Hurst, an artist of many talents which include not only visual arts but also the art of story telling. I am delighted to have designed the cover for the first part of his memoirs. Underneath is a photo from the book launch at the Old Fire Station in Oxford where Steve (on the left) had a talk with a fellow sculptor and ‘Ruskien’ Richard Wentworth and the book on display in Blackwell’s bookshop in Oxford. After a very long wait the Illustrators’ Fair was back and I enjoyed it as much as any previous ones. Lots of talent on display and wonderful customers, too! Let’s hope live fairs are here to stay.
We are back with our In Harmony exhibition in the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre. This time we are part of the Surrey Artists’ Open Studios, a true treasure trove of art and craft.
Yay! The puppy, unfortunately, is not mine.
I traced and digitally enhanced some of my papercut illustrations and had them printed as high quality giclée prints. I have started putting them up for sale in my Etsy shop, more will be coming soon!
My underwater creatures (and I have quite a few of those amongst my flowerpot designs) have been published in the culinary magazine of the Dutch Visbureau together with some other piscine design items. Dankjewel!
I have been featured in Surrey Living magazine :) Unfortunately it came out during the Coronavirus outbreak, so the information on our exhibition is not exactly right.
I was going to run a papercutting workshop at our exhibition in Riverhouse Barn but then Corona came and… So the next best thing – Riverhouse uploaded my little tutorial on their YouTube channel and you can download the template from their description comment. Give it a go!
I am going to be one of nine artists who, together, will cover a wide range of art media. More details coming soon!
What a fantastic day at the House of Illustration Winter Fair. So busy, full of great illustrations and my new cat bookmarks turned out to be very popular, yay! :)
This Thursday there will be another production of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an exhibition accompanied with my images, this time with Clara Rodriguez behind the piano keyboard.
